All the Light We Cannot See
All the Light We Cannot See Reviews
I switched between listening to the audiobook and reading the kindle version. It took me a while to get through it but wow the last 1/4 of this book is absolutely spectacular. The author does a phenomenal job with the magical moment that happens in all novels when the storylines of multiple characters start weaving together--its was like watching a well choreographed dance. This book takes some time to read but is well worth it, especially if you love historical fiction.
I loved this book. Just loved it. I would stop in the middle of a page and read a passage to my husband and then say, (as if he didn't already know it), "Listen to this. It is LITERATURE."
Amazing the breadth and depth of knowledge possessed by my Doerr and served up on a glowing platter of delicacies. Wow, I really enjoyed every page UNTIL the end. Didn't care for it, but I won't be a spoiler for anyone.

Great empathy with all the characters, really got inside their heads. Suspense trajectory kept lurching up. Vivid sense of place. Technicalities such as shells and model-building knowledgable, not glossed over. A sensitive view of historical events.
Really enjoyed this book, the characters were well developed and the ending was not totally predictable.
This is a very different way of experiencing WWII, The characters are well developed & easy to get involved with. It is cohesive even though the time-line keeps changing.
Beautifully written and giving one much food for thought.
Clear pictures of the terror of World War 2 paired with the innocence of many who fought for their Fatherland. I couldn't put it down!

Ordinary European's caught in the throes of Hitler's war and their struggle to survive is the premise of this intriguing novel. The author quickly establishes strong characters that will develop as the war progresses-thoroughly engaging!
Beautifully written sprawling epic set (mostly) during WWII. Even if you aren't a fan of historical fiction, it's hard not appreciate this book: complex and well developed characters, steady plot with mounting tension as WWII erupts, and spell-binding prose. The prose alone is worth the read.
A powerful story of how WWll effected people on both sides. Innocent children, Marie and Werner, have no choice, but to be involved. But , when the darkness of this brutal war envelopes the town this young blind girl helps spread the light, and a young man who is forced to become a killer still shows he has some goodness inside.
